‘Webservices excluded in Data Retention Law’

The obligation to store call detail records of telephony and internet traffic for long periods of time,

does not include web based services like Twitter, Facebook, Skype etc. Only with innovative new

technologies like deep packet inspection it will be possible to intercept this traffic and to achieve

what the Data Retention law was intended for: tracking of criminal and/or terrorist activities. Group

2000, specialist in active data retention, poses that this can be done at lower costs than has been

assumed so far.
